Danzig pre-philately 1808, "Republic of Danzig", free city under French rule during the period after the Treaty of Tilsit, taxed French field post letter from May 28, 1808, stamped with the two-line inscription "No 59 GRANDE ARMÉE", addressed to the President of the Court of Appeal (President de la Cours d' appel) Cailly in Caen, Calvados department in Normandy, excellent condition, pencil signature on the reverse.
